‘Misconception that cancer is incurable persists’

A cancer-awareness camp was organised on Saturday to mark `World Cancer Day' that will be observed on February 4.

Dr Navdeep Singh, Head of Cancer Department, Ludhiana Mediways Hospital, while speaking at the camp said, "It is still a prevalent misconception in the society that cancer is incurable and patients don't live a normal lifestyle after treatment. Medical science has made tremendous breakthroughs in the past few years, and treatments are now available for diseases, which were earlier thought to be untreatable. The only issue remaining now is to make people aware of the importance of early detection of the disease so that it can be treated effectively".

Suggesting remedies to avoid the deadly disease Navdeep said, "Take a cancer-safe diet like green leafy vegetables, salads, fresh fruits, tomatoes, turmeric and green tea. Say no to cancer prone diet like tobacco, cigarette and gutka".
