The family members of the 15 accused persons arrested from hotels in Chandigarh and four examination centers for leaking the examination of MD/MS conducted by PGIMER claimed on Sunday that the CBI sleuths had falsely picked them up and that they have nothing to do with the paper leak scam.
The families of the accused said that the dummy candidates and the supporting team of Gurivi Redddy did not know why they were brought to Chandigarh. They claimed that CBI has falsely picked up some of the accused from the hotels.
An hour before the arrested persons were to be produced in the court on Saturday, the family members including their elderly parents who have come from Andhra Pradesh, flocked outside the court to meet their kin who have been arrested.
Uncle of one of the accused, Sheikh Afroz who has come from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh told Newsline that Afroz did not know why he had come to Chandigarh. "He did not have any idea why he was being brought here to Chandigarh that too by air. All he knew was that he would earn some money in helping Gurivi Reddy for some work here."
Brother of one of the dummy candidates who refused to identify himself and the name of his accused sister said that his sister used to stay in a hostel and is a graduate student. She had said that she was going on a trip and would be getting some money for a small job to be done in Chandigarh.
P Jagdeesh, one of the accused who was arrested from the hotel, told his counsel that he has been falsely picked up by CBI. "Gurivi Reddy had used my identity proof to take a room in the hotel," Jagdeesh told his counsel.
