Zakia Jafri, widow of slain Congress leader Ehsan Jafri, has said that she has not been tutored by activist Teesta Setalvad.

On Friday, the state government,in a 68-page affidavit filed with the Supreme Court, had sought registration of a criminal case against Setalvad and others for allegedly tutoring witnesses and putting pressure on the trial. Jafri said,“She (Setalvad) did not tutor us,only helped us in the case.”

Four armed commandos of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have been posted outside the Surat home of Jafri .

She had requested SIT officials last Saturday to provide her security. On Friday evening, four CISF men were posted outside Jafri’s bungalow at Alvi in the Rander area. All the four CISF constables will remain on round-the-clock duty.

It is to be noted that in 2004 also,Jafri had been provided security by the SIT after she had approached the Supreme Court for it.

However,it was withdrawn when she went to the US to stay with her daughter for a year. After she returned to India, the security was not restored.

Jafri said: “We have taken security as a precautionary measure. The case is on the verge of completion and we fear that some people might try to harm us. We are happy with the CISF securitymen allotted to us.”
