1 record,2 centuries,18 wickets,676 runs and a tie

It is only the fourth tie in the history of Cricket World Cup.

The 2011 Cricket World Cup came alive in Bangalore tonight when a humdinger of a game between India and England ended in a tie only the fourth in the tournaments history.

Andrew Strausss 158,the highest score by an English batsman in World Cup history, that was preceded by Tendulkars 120,a record-breaking fifth World Cup century for the Indian, set up the game of the eight-day-old tournament, which has so far largely witnessed one-sided encounters between Test-playing nations and associate teams and has been marred by shortage of tickets for fans.

Indias score of 338 all out in 49.5 overs was its second-highest total against England. But England went about the chase audaciously, till Zaheer Khan dismissed the well-set Ian Bell and Strauss off successive balls to reduce the team from 281 for two to 281 for four. This triggered a collapse that only ended in a heart-stopping tie. Still,Englands total of 338 for 8 was the second-highest score to tie a match.
