A proposal to install 50 CCTVs has been pending for over a year now at state's largest government hospital Sassoon General Hospital that has 1,200 beds.
Dr D B Kadam, officially designated by the Dean of B J Medical College Dr Ajay Chandanwale to speak with mediapersons, admitted that they were yet to receive the CCTVs.
Aftre incidents of thefts of babies at various government hospitals and escape of few undertrials brought for treatment, the state did install a few CCTVs at the paediatric and obstetric departments. "But we need CCTVs at various OPDs, casualty section and other areas of the hospital," admits Kadam.
There are 14 government medical colleges and hospitals in the state and the proposal has been pending. Phase wise installation of CCTVs is under way, says Dr Pravin Shingare, Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER).
