The Chandigarh Police has recovered four stolen vehicles, including a luxury car, Audi, following interrogation of two youths arrested in June.
One of the accused, 23-year-old Gurwinder Singh alias Lambu of Amritsar, is an NRI.
Another accused Ravi Chaudhary alias Nona of Taran Taran was arrested following interrogation of one Raj Kumar Gill, who was arrested with fake currency and a stolen car on June 24. Gill had reportedly told police that Nona was his accomplice in stealing cars.
During interrogation, Nona reportedly told the police that with Lambu he had snatched an Audi A-4 car on knifepoint from a man in Delhi in January this year. They kidnapped the person and dumped him in Murthal in Haryana after stabbing him. Then they headed for Amritsar, but Lambu could not sell the car due to its high price (30 lakh), the police said.
The police recovered the car from an open ground in Phase II industrial area, where old damaged cars are dumped. The car had a fake registration number.
Nona also reportedly admitted to have stolen a motorcycle (PB31 F 1431) stolen from the juri-sdiction of the Sector-36 police station.
Gill was arrested with a stolen car from Sector 38 and on his information the police recovered a Tata Safari from Motor Market in Sector 48 in which fake currency was found.
Now, the police said, they were on the lookout for the kingpin of the gang, Yudhveer Singh alias Yodha of Amritsar.
