Ten persons, including three women, were killed and 10 injured when a minibus lost control after skidding off the Bankim Setu flyover and fell on the railway tracks at Howrah station on Saturday.
Howrah SP Neeraj Kumar Singh said the reasons behind the accident were being investigated. "The minibus plying on the Sankrail-Howrah route broke the flyover's railing directly above platform no 12 and fell on its roof.
The injured have been moved to Howrah General Hospital and the Railways' Orthopaedic Hospital," Singh added.
Senior railways officials, including DRM M Jamshed, said the railways rescue infrastructure including an Accident Relief Train were deployed.
Trinamool Congress leaders Partha Chatterjee and Arup Roy were on the spot to take stock of the situation.
