100 labourers stranded at Zojila Pass in Jammu

With heavy snowfall blocking the Srinagar-Leh national highway,over 100 labourers of Doda district have been stranded in snow at Zojila Pass in Kargil district.

With heavy snowfall blocking the Srinagar-Leh national highway,over 100 labourers of Doda district have been stranded in snow at Zojila Pass in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir,Minister for Roads and Buildings,G M Saroori said on Sunday.

“Over 100 labourers from Doda district are stranded in Zojila Pass as the highway is closed due to heavy snowfall. R&B engineers have provided them food and shelter,” he told reporters here.

Saroori further said that he had talked to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to ensure airlifting of the labourers from the area as they are in bad condition.

Srinagar-Leh highway was closed for traffic last week and Army had rescued over 300 people from heavy snow falling near the Gumari-Zojila belt.
