Eleven days after IPS officer Narendra Kumar was killed while intercepting a tractor-trolley carrying illegally mined stones in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, his wife Madhurani Tewatia,an IAS officer in the same state, delivered a baby boy at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi on Monday afternoon.

Dr T S Sidhu, medical superintendent of RML Hospital, said: “She has delivered a baby boy and is recuperating at the hospital nursing home. She delivered through a Caesarean section. Both the mother and baby are doing fine.”

Keshav Dev,Narendra’s father, told The Indian Express: “While we cannot stop thinking about Narendra and the loss that can never be made up,this baby is our hope. We now at least have a reason to smile.”

Narendra’s uncle Rajpal Singh said: “It is an emotional moment for us. We have been trying to find our lost son in the baby boy. It is too early to say but we might name the boy after his father. After all,our chhota Narendra is here to complete his father’s unfinished task.”

A CBI probe has been ordered into Narendra’s killing.
