Eleven new dengue cases were reported in the national capital on Sunday, taking the total number of people suffering from the vector-borne disease to 1,079. The city has reported two confirmed dengue deaths so far.
The Capital has reported over 415 cases of dengue in the past fortnight. The number of daily cases has, however, seen a decline over the past few days. The daily figure has ranged from seven 7 to 13 in the last seven days, compared to around 20 to 25 cases earlier.
“With 11 fresh cases of dengue, the total has reached 1,079,” a senior government official said.
The number of dengue cases was negligible from June to September this year, but surged drastically since mid-October due to the late monsoon. The spread of the disease can be contained soon with the onset of winter, the official said.
