12 arrested for attack on ambulance

A day after an irate mob attacked a 108 EMRI ambulance for arriving late at the spot,the Sayajigunj police arrested 12 people from the area.

As per a police complaint lodged by 108 amabulance staff,Kiran Dubha,over 25 to 30 residents of the area were involved in damaging the van,attacking the EMRI members and injuring one of them seriously.

Those arrested have been identified as Shahid Hussain,Raju,Ganpat Utekar,Umesh Rana,Maqsood Sheikh,Ejad Mohammad,Iqbal Saiyad,Shamsuddin aka Annu Saiyad,Mohammad Sheikh,Dinesh Solanki,Prahlad Bisht and Sanjay Bisht.

These people were detained on Saturday night and after detailed interrogation were arrested on Sunday. These people had a verbal tiff with the EMRI members and then they damaged the van and also attacked the ambulance staff, said Inspector P U Sisodia of the Sayajigunj police station.

The incident had occurred around 4 pm on Saturday when the delayed arrival of the ambulance at the spot of medical emergency at Fatehgunj had made the people vent their fury at the vehicle. The police have arrested the 12 on charges of rioting,hurting public servants and damaging public property.
