




The polls would be held to elect 12 sarpanches and 112 panches and the filing of nominations started from Friday. Three returning officers have been appointed by the Election Commission to be assisted by two assistant returning officers each.
This year, the expenditure of candidates has been fixed at Rs 10,000, double than that allowed in the previous elections.
Kelkar said that the elections would be held following all codes of conduct. Posters and banners would not be allowed, he added. The Commission has also made adequate security arrangements and security personnel would remain present during the filing of nominations.
While voting would be held on December 14 from 8 am to 5 pm, results would be declared on December 16.
