As fascination builds up with 12.12.12 and people plan different celebrations to mark this historic date, astrologers say there is nothing unique about the date.
Dr Ashima Taneja, a gynaecologist, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, says, "I am amazed as some patients are behaving very superstitiously. Around five out of 10 patients of mine who are expecting in December want their deliveries to be done on 12.12.12. They do not mind if we have to go for C-section deliveries but they are just adamant to have a baby on this date."
She adds that it is completely unadvisable to go for unnatural deliveries as it can cause serious complications to the health of the baby and mother.
Lalit Joshi, an astrologer from Adarsh Nagar, says, "There is nothing extraordinary about the date. People are creating a hype out of nothing. The day will pass as usual. It is not going to have any positive or negative effect on different zodiac signs. It is just a mathematical co-incidence. Like 11.11.11 happened, so will 12.12.12. People consulting various astrologers to avoid any untoward happening are just wasting their time and money because there is nothing to worry at all."
However, people having birthdays and anniversaries on this date are planning some special celebrations. Harmeet Singh Kanwar, from Model Town extension, whose birthday falls on the date, says he considers himself lucky as the date won't be repeated. "Thus a surprise party is on the cards with family and friends,'' he adds.
Ruchi Bajaj, a resident of Dugri, whose parents' wedding anniversary falls on the date, has gone to Jammu "to make the day special for her parents and give them a surprise bash".
Harmeet Kaur, a school teacher, is planning a different celebration and has "asked all the children in the class to present sweets to the fellow classmates and make the day memorable".
