Nearly 150 cases related to the Armed Forces have been transferred from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) bench in Chandigarh within three days of its becoming operational,taking the number of cases transferred to be around 180.

Most of the cases are from 2007 to 2009.

The first date of hearing for these transferred cases has been fixed on January 20 next year.

The bench began functioning from November 16 and only one of the total three benches is functional at present comprising one judicial and administrative member each.

The present members are Justice Ghanshyam Prasad,former judge of Patna High Court,Lieutenant General

A S Bahia,former Director General Military Operations and Quarter Master General.

Two more retired HC judges will be appointed in due course.

The jurisdiction of the bench extends to Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh,Jammu and Kashmir and UT Chandigarh.

The tribunal has original jurisdiction over complaints and disputes regarding all service matters as also appellate jurisdiction over appeals arising out of verdicts of court martials.

With a one-way ticket to India and a heart set on change, Divya arrived in Rishikesh, the spiritual capital by the Ganga, to begin her new life as a meditation coach. In a short Instagram video, Divya documented her journey, from boarding her flight to Dehradun to settling into a simple ashram room that she now calls home for the next 30 days. The space, bare yet serene, symbolises her commitment to “living, learning, and unlearning”. Sharing her motivation behind the move, Divya wrote that meditation had completely transformed her outlook on life. “It helped me see myself and manifest the life of my dreams. I thought, what if I could teach others to do it too? So here I am to become a certified meditation coach,” she wrote in her video. One Instagram user wrote, “I stayed in Rishikesh for six months and it transformed me from within. It’s gonna be a wonderful experience, do soak in all the positivity of Rish. All the best.” Another user, with a hint of humour, remarked, “So now Rishikesh is the new sunburn bcoz this is probably the tenth or twelfth post I am seeing of people going there for retreats and making content on it.” Others were inspired by her courage. “You are inspiring me to do the same as I have always been inclined to Yoga and meditation,” one person commented. “I was in Rishikesh for few hours just to see the Ganga Aarthi, it moved me so much I started to cry, would love to go there again.” Woman leaves Dubai for Rishikesh
