A total of 1,500 police personnel of various ranks would be deployed in the naxalite-affected areas and cities of Madhya Pradesh, an official release said on Friday.

A decision to this effect was taken on Thursday evening at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, it said.

At the meeting, Chouhan said that despite limitation of financial resources, police force would be increased for the people's safety and security.

As per the decision, 350 policemen would be posted in the naxalite-affected Balaghat district while others would be posted in other districts.
