  • Srinagar Sex Abuse Scandal

As the CBI secured four-day custody of senior J&K IAS official Iqbal Khandey, held for his alleged role in the Srinagar sex abuse scandal, another officer fell into the net today: DSP Yousuf Mir became the 15th person to be arrested in the case.

Mir is the second police officer to be held for his alleged role in the scandal. Earlier, the CBI had arrested DSP Ashraf Mir. Sources said Mir had been named by most victims questioned by the CBI.

Meanwhile, the scheduled hearing of the case by the J&K High Court was adjourned today because one of the two judges monitoring the case was not available. The date for the next hearing has not yet been fixed.

The CBI, however, submitted the status report and the case dairies which were perused by Justice B A Kirmani.

Khandey’s arrest yesterday has rocked Srinagar. He’s Principal Secretary (Planning) and was former Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed’s Principal Secretary. Identified by one of the victims who had described him as the “Gora Chitta (fair complexioned) Commissioner”, he was picked up by the CBI from his official residence.
