A man has alleged that his 15-year-old daughter was raped and poisoned by her schoolmate while she was returning home from school at Gadariya village in Banda district. The girl died on Sunday evening.

The father of the deceased registered the case later on Sunday night. The accused is yet to be arrested.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Banda, Ashutosh Kumar, however, said: “Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl had an affair with the boy. The girl’s family members had caught her with the boy on Saturday. She was administered a poisonous substance after she was scolded by her parents.”

The SP added, “We are waiting for the medical examination. If the report corroborates rape, the accused would be chargesheeted in the case.”

Additional SP (ASP) Banda, Saligram, too, said: “The girl was caught in a compromising state with the boy that day and was assaulted by her mother later. Upset over the issue, she committed suicide.”

“However, a case of rape and murder has been registered against the accused, Om Narain (18), and efforts were being made to nab him,” the ASP said.

Saligram said the victim’s father, in his complaint lodged with the Jaspura police station, alleged that Om Narain of the same village had raped his daughter and had administered poison to her on Saturday. The girl was admitted to a Kanpur hospital where she died on Sunday evening, the FIR stated. The girl was a student of Class VIII at Baijnath Vidyalaya in the village while the boy, too, was studying in Class X in the same school, Saligram said.
