16 PAC men to be booked on gangrape charge

A Noida court on Tuesday directed the UP Police to register cases against 16 Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel for allegedly raping a woman at Dankaur village during farmer protests against land acquisition in May.

A Noida court on Tuesday directed the UP Police to register cases against 16 Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel for allegedly raping a woman at Dankaur village during farmer protests against land acquisition in May. Dankaur,Bhatta and Parsaul were the villages that were in the midst of the land agitation.

The police,however,said they were yet to receive the order passed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court.

SSP (Gautam Budh Nagar),Jyoti Narayan said,“We are yet to receive the court order. When we do,we will take appropriate action.”

The victim had alleged that she was raped by PAC personnel on May 7 in Dankaur village. She moved court after the police allegedly refused to lodge an FIR. The court also directed the police to remove the PAC battalion from the village.
