An 18-year-old youth was arrested after he allegedly attempted to rape two six-year-old girls at his hut in Bapu Dham Colony on Wednesday morning.
While accused Amit, who works as a drum beater, was arrested, police sent the minor girls for medical examination to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 11.30 am when the two girls were playing outside their hut. The accused lured the two to come inside his hut. Later, worried family members reached the spot and found the accused in a compromising position. The family raised the alarm after which neighbours gathered and thrashed the accused. He was later handed over to the police.
A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station.
Two booked for gangrape
PANCHKULA: The Panchkula police has registered a case against two unknown persons for allegedly gangraping a 19-year-old girl three days ago.
The case was registered after the girl, who has been putting up in a rented accommodation in Sector 15, Panchkula, lodged a formal complaint with the police.
