Two policemen have been arrested for their alleged links with the Chenab division commander of Hizbul Mujahideen,Ghulam Nabi alias Javed Qureshi, who along with an accomplice was arrested at Dehradun a fortnight ago. Another cop is absconding.

The police have also unearthed nearly a dozen hideouts along with arms and ammunition in an over-a-week-long operation across Doda district to smash the widespread network of Qureshi, who was carrying the layout plans of the Indian Military Academy when he was arrested along with Tanvir Ahmed. They had planned to create disturbance during the IMA passing-out parade. Qureshi, who joined militancy in 1994 and was trained in Pakistan, had been in constant touch with Hizbul Mujahideen supremo Syed Salahudin.

Sources identified the arrested cops as Head Constable Devinder Kumar alias DK and Constable Satish Kumar alias Doctor. Another constable,Joginder Kumar, was absconding, sources said, adding that the arrests followed revelations made by Qureshi during interrogation.
