Although two days have passed since an attempted dacoity in south Mumbai's Bhuleshwar area, the L T Marg Police have still not caught the four men involved. The police claimed that they are still in the process of tracking down the four who had fled.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon when a group of five persons entered a local firm in Popalwadi on Bhuleshwar Road, brandished firearms and a chopper, and told employees to hand over all valuables. While trying to escape with Rs 3 lakh, one of the employees screamed for help. Hearing the cries people nearby managed to nab one of the accused. However, others escaped leaving the cash behind.

The arrested man, Mohammad Kasim (23), allegedly shot at a person but missed the target. He was then thrashed by people and injured before he was handed over to the police.

Kasim was rushed to G T Hospital for treatment, where he is currently recuperating.

Doctors at the state-run G T Hospital said Kasim was shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit on Friday.

"He was brought with bruise marks on the body. He was beaten badly and we performed CT scans of his head and abdomen. He does not seem to have any internal injuries and is currently being treated for his bruises," said a doctor.

"The faces of the four who fled were captured on seven CCTV cameras in the area. We are now tracking them based on the footage," said an officer. Senior inspector Avinash Sonawane said the police are checking exit points of the city.

"We are checking exit points so that the men do not escape," he said.
