2 deaths in train mishap,family to go ahead with wedding

After a day-long wait at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus,the Guptas were not expecting any good news. The names of two of their close relatives figured in the list of dead updated by the railways on Saturday.

The deceased,Harkesh Gupta (23) and Prema Gupta (45),were coming to Mumbai to attend a family wedding. “We are not bringing the bodies to Mumbai,instead we are taking them to Howrah,” said Harilal Gupta,whose son is to get married on Monday. “I have lost my nephew and another close relative,but the marriage cannot be postponed at such short notice. It is sad,but we don’t have any option either. We have decided to go ahead and follow the necessary rituals,after which the entire family will be going to Howrah.”

Harkesh ran a mobile phone shop in Kolkata. His elder brother Jay has gone to Howrah to attend the last rites.
