2 get life imprisonment for killing friend

  • A local court sentenced Jagjit Pal (20) of Sarabha Nagar and Onkar Singh (22) of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar to life imprisonment for killing their friend Ramandeep Singh (19) for money. The judge has also ordered them to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 each.

    “Keeping in view the nature and gravity of the offence committed by the convicts, they are sentenced to life imprisonment,” said Additional District and Sessions Judge ( ASJ) Kishore Kumar while pronouncing the verdict.

    In this regard, a case was registered under sections 302, 364 and 201 of IPC on April 21, 2004 on the basis a statement of Jaspal Singh, father of the Ramandeep Singh.

    The complainant had submitted that his son had gone in his Skoda car and went missing. He appeared to have been kidnapped with the intention of murder by the accused, he had said.

    A few days later, body of Ramandeep was found and the accused were arrested on the next day of the registration of an FIR. The police had recovered several items belonging to the victim from their possession.

    On the other hand, the accused pleaded innocence and claimed false implication. The court held that the prosecution had successfully proved the guilt of accused who had been sentenced accordingly.
