2 held for murdering ambulance owner and driver, dumping bodies near school

Two persons have been arrested for the murder of an ambulance owner and the driver of the vehicle last week. The two bodies were left in the ambulance, which was abandoned near a school in Sector-10A, Gurgaon.

Police said ambulance owner Vijendra (44) and Rajendra (31) were killed by a former employee, Rahul, who is still on the run. Rahul, police said, had roped in five others — of which Akhilesh and Jaikaran Yadav have been arrested.

According to police, Rahul was miffed as Vijendra had sacked him from the post of driver.

Akhilesh is a resident of Singhan Khera village in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and Jaikaran Yadav is resident of Nangla Dakau village in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. Both were tenants living in Anjana Colony, police said.

"The conspiracy to kill the owner of the ambulance was hatched by Rahul. He promised to pay the others Rs 25,000 each and had planned to extract the money from Vijendra. The two were killed behind Vijendra's home and the bodies were put in the ambulance, which was then parked in front of a school in Sector-10A," DCP (West) Surendra Pal Singh said.

Police were told that Rahul asked his accomplice Ajit to call Vijendra and request for an ambulance. Others waited for the two to turn up and bludgeoned them to death with iron rods, police said.

The school's guard said the ambulance was parked around 4 am and the men inside came out one by one and left the area. Guard said he did not bother to check as he thought that the two men inside were sleeping.

Passersby informed the police the next morning when they noticed the two bodies around 6 am.

The murders drew an angry response from owners and drivers of private ambulance in Gurgaon. Hundreds went on a strike demanding a speedy arrest and appropriate police action.
