2 killed in bomb explosion in Eastern Lanka

A police officer and a civilian were killed and 12 others,including four schoolchildren,were injured when suspected LTTE militants carried out a bomb attack in the Eastern Batticaloa region of Sri Lanka.

A police officer and a civilian were killed and 12 others,including four schoolchildren,were injured when suspected LTTE militants carried out a bomb attack in the Eastern Batticaloa region of Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

“LTTE cadres have carried out cowardly bomb blast targeting innocent civilians in the Batticaloa town this morning”,the defence ministry said,adding,the bomb was strapped to a bicycle parked in front a boutique near the police station.

The bomb was exploded by remote control.

Two people were killed and 12 others suffered injuries in the explosion,the ministry said,adding,four schoolchildren were among the injured.
