2 medical emergencies at airport

Two medical emergencies were reported at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Wednesday.

Two medical emergencies were reported at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) on Wednesday. A senior citizen suffered a heart attack near the departure gate,while a 50-year-old passenger fell unconscious on board a flight.

Kamaladevi,67,was booked on a Jet Airways flight to Jodhpur. She fell unconscious outside the departure gate while getting out of a taxi around 9 am.

“A CSIA medical team attended to the passenger. Her blood pressure and pulse was not recordable. The medical team began treatment with cardiopulmonary resuscitation,” said a spokesperson for Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL),which operates CSIA. The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital.

The second medical emergency was on board a Lucknow-Mumbai IndiGo flight at 10.30 am when Ayesha,50,a diabetic,fell unconscious owing to low blood sugar. “A passenger,who was reportedly a doctor treated her during the flight. She was stabilised in a medical room at Mumbai airport,” the MIAL spokesperson said. Ayesha was later taken to a nearby hospital.
