  • Two animated films made by 23-year-old Delwyn Remedios and his friends have been nominated for the best animation film category at Lisbon film fest.

Remedios— a National Institute of Design student — is now desperate for money to fly to Lisbon to attend the Monstra International Animation Film Festival.

Though his friends are not very keen on participating in the festival for various reasons, Remedios has not given up hope. Unfortunately, he can’t afford the airfare and other expenses for the trip to Europe.

Remedios has now decided to approach some corporates to help him meet the expenses.

“This is one of the greatest recognitions I can get,” said Remedios. “It’s amazing that I have been recognised and my film has been nominated for the best animated film in an International film festival. I have attended many national festivals, but this will be a whole world apart,” he said.

“My father is the only earning member of the family. Availing of a loan is completely out of question. I still need to repay a loan amount that I had taken for my education,” he said. Remedios has already gone to Goa to apply for a Portugese visa. “I really want to go to this festival. I want to see what other animators across the world have made. Unfortunately, time is not on my side. I need to be in Lisbon by the end of this week. I can’t really expect my films to get nominated again. This might be my best chance to go to Monstra,” he said. “My friends are approaching companies for sponsorships. In fact, one of my friends offered me his savings,” he said. The two films — Chai-break and 0200— that have been nominated, have already received laurels at other festivals.
