Mumbai: Two NSG personnel, including an officer, were killed and six other commandos injured during operations against terrorists in Mumbai, the first casualties suffered by the elite force during the siege.

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, 31, was killed while engaging terrorists on Friday morning at the Taj hotel, an NSG spokesperson said.

Commando Chander received fatal bullet injuries during gunbattle at Nariman House, the official said.

Six other commandos were also injured during the encounters with terrorists at Taj hotel, Oberoi-Trident and Nariman House.

Major Unnikrishnan was with the 51 Special Action Group of the force and was with the NSG on deputation.

He has been with the Black Cat commando force for the last two years.

An officer of the Bihar Regiment, he was commissioned in the Indian Army in June 1999.

The officer had joined the NSG on deputation in January 2007 after having served two tenures with his battalion in counter insurgency and counter terrorism roles.

The officer hails from Bangalore where his father works for the Indian Space Research Organisation.

terrorists/Raj by govi on 2008-11-29 23:54:52.310024+05:30
It is so sad to see them gone fighting tooth and nail with the devils, Satan's crap. God Bless your souls and help your families give them a lot of strength and courage. Raj divided Mumbai and the enemy took an upper hand at the division in mumbai. This mini me (Raj) probably was agent to Congress and ISI who made the mns workers dance to his tunes. Where are you hiding? You are no less evil than the muslims who hate us. Who needs a politician like you? It would make our hearts burn to see you, because you agonized the poor and people who fought for Mumbai. Why didn't you come and say get out to the terrorists that I was the ruler of Mumba and you cannot harm usi. Where were you moron? You want to take credit for what? Did your father find this city? Of course, not. Mahatma Gandhi gave us freedom so do not take credit for your useless goonda power, you scum.

I think it would be important to note that the oft forgotten Indian Army provides all personnel involved in operations conducted via media the NSG on deputation to what is called SAG.People should appreciate the sacrifies of the Defence Forces a lot more than they do , especially the powers that be

Major Unnikrishnan and Commando Chander: Sirs, please accept grateful thanks from all Indians and Indian Americans for your ultimate sacrifice in the service of Mother India! By watching your kind face, I think of my son who is your age. I am deeply saddened that you had to give up your lives to rid India off these Pakistani devils who have nothing to live for., nothing to offer the world except their squalid lives and worthless ideology! May your family bear your loss with strength and equanimity, knowing that the Gods in Heaven will honor you forever! You died in the best cause-serving a grateful nation under attack by oppressors! May your souls rest in peace! Bless you, brothers!

Please stop this insightment of hatred. Let all Indians unite and enable to help the families of the victims. Yes everyone is angry. However every one also has seen the result of uncontrolled anger and hatered. This cant go on forever. An eye for an eye tooth for a tooth makes the world go blind-Gandhi. We have enough Raj Takareys and Modis to do the job of insighting hatered. We need to unite and flush out these criminals who work against humanity. This is not a problem for India it is a problem for the world. Let us bring justice to the muslims who are suffering under oppression and show them we are better than those who preach hatered. Let us flush out these people to bring them under full force of the law swiftly. Corrupt governments only breed terrorists. India needs to heal right now and let us all help her to do that. At the same time there should be no mercy to any of these criminals as they also have people in India who would have helped them. Clam down and show courage.

No one will remember such heroes in a country full of cowards and idiots by Jay on 2008-11-29 07:42:46.621127+05:30
No one will remember these heroes who laid their lives to fight these Islamic terrorism once all the dusts are settled. Politicians will continue to sell the country, usual show will go on. What happened to those “heroes” who laid their lives during so many anti-terrorists efforts? What happened to those army personnel who died during three wars with Pakistan? Did those incidents taught our political leadership to become more human, more patriotic? NO. The only people who will remember those fallen heroes are their family members who will then struggle to meet their ends meet.

Some Financial Help by Amit Anand on 2008-11-29 07:15:15.657331+05:30
NSG ....set up local bank accounts for the departed folks .... and their families and let know of the SWIFT codes and bank account numbers so that we may transfer money electronicallyto help the families of these brave officers. Some estate planning should be done immediately so that we can capitalize on the severity of the situation. Folks like me are willing to help, just create a transparent financial conduit. Funerals, college tuition, household expenses etc cost a bit, let us not rely on the government ......NSG top brass go to Citibank or some other top bank and set up beneficiary accounts for the folks who have lost lives and are injured on the pronto. You hear ???????

We are the largest victims of terrorism. When shall we be able to defend ourselves and save our priceless brave lives? Our political needs to muster some will power to tackle it.
