Two persons allegedly involved in the murder of a sub-inspector were shot dead in an encounter, which the police claimed happened when they tried to escape from custody. The two were being brought from the Madurai prison to the court in Sivaganga, when they allegedly tried to escape. After a chase and an encounter, both were shot dead.
