2 warkaris killed in road mishap

A Collision between two trucks killed two warkaris and injured as many as 34 of them near Mohol on the Pune – Solapur highway in the early hours of Friday.

A Collision between two trucks killed two warkaris (pilgrims) and injured as many as 34 of them near Mohol on the Pune – Solapur highway in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Ram

Pandurang Gabale of Humnabad of Karnataka district and Vijaykumar Bhandare of Udgir in

Osmanabad district. Condition of six warkaris was reported to be critical.

According to the police,a group of about 70 warkaris from various villages in Osmanabad hired a truck and were going to Alandi for participating in the palkhi procession. But at around 4 am,another truck going towards Solapur hit the truck carrying warkaris.

The driver of the truck carrying the warkaris lost control on the steering and it rammed into a road side tree. The impact was so severe that Gabale died on the spot.

Local residents and Mohol police admitted the injured pilgrims to the civil hospital in Solapur for treatment. Another pilgrim Bhandare died at the hospital. Meanwhile,a case has been registered at Mohol police station against the unknown truck driver,who fled from the spot after the mishap.
