North corporation has issued showcause notices to at least 20 parking sites in its jurisdiction,after the parking lots were found flouting the rules of new parking policy.
Commissioner of North corporation P K Gupta had instructed all zonal Deputy Commissioners to inspect their respective areas and take action against those flouting the rules. Taking into consideration the complaints from various forums against poor management of parking space,the Deputy Commissioners of all the zones had been asked by the Municipal Commissioner to inspect the functioning and management of the parking lots under their jurisdiction. Twenty parking lots were found violating the rules, Yogendra Mann,director Press and Information,North corporation,said.
Parking lots that were issued showcause notices were found flouting norms regarding yellow lines around the parking sites (for demarcation of the area),uniforms of attendants,contractors information board,complaint registers and handheld devices to issue parking slips.
These conditions had been laid while finalising the new IT-based parking policy. Showcause notices were issued to parking lots in Karol Bagh and Rohini. The major violations in parking in Rohini zone were related to handheld devices,complaint register,staffs uniform and demarcation of yellow line. In Karol Bagh,violations were mainly in terms of uniform of parking attendants,displaying of boards containing details about contractors and use of handheld devices, Mann said.
