The complainant and the main eyewitness to the 2002 Sardarpura massacre broke down in the special court on Thursday when he was asked to identify blood stained clothes of his wife and two daughters, who were killed by a mob on March 1 that year.
The court halted the hearing for around 10 minutes and allowed Ibrahim Rasoolbhai Sheikh to gain his composure, said SC Shah, the public prosecutor in the case.
Later, Sheikh identified eight people and named 27 others who were part of the mob. He also identified the weapons used in the crime. The case is being heard in a special court of Designated Judge SC Shrivastava in Mehsana.
Sheikh had himself sustained injuries during the riots in which 33 people were burnt alive.
