  • In yet another attack on Indians in Australia, a Sikh was punched in his head by a group of Australians who also removed his turban while he was sleeping at a bus stop in Melbourne.

Police said they are investigating the "unprovoked" bashing of the 22-year-old Indian youth who was punched in the head and had his turban removed as he slept at a bus stop on Sunday.

However, the name and other details of the Indian man has not yet been known.

"The Yarraville man was asleep at a stop near Epping railway station in Cooper Street about 12.45 am on Sunday when a bus pulled into the depot and five males, believed to be believed 17 and 19 approached him," 'The Age' reported.

Two of the five youths allegedly bashed the Indian man, while their three companions are believed to have tried to stop the assault, the report said, adding that the 60-year-bus driver and a passenger also tried to stop the attack. The five youths managed to escape from the scene.

"The victim suffered injuries to his mouth but did not need medical attention," the Age reported. Police have appealed for any witness in connection with the incident.

This is the latest among a series of racially-motivated attacks on Indians and students from the community.

Around 30 Indian students were attacked in various cities from June to August.

Last month, an Indian student was attacked with a "plank of wood or a baseball bat" by two men which left him with 20 stitches in his head.

    ... contd.

My Useless Son with 3P's ProblemBy: Rodgers Father | 27-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward I have been advised about my useless with 3P's problem. According to his friends in Melbourne that the reason he calls some of these senseless crimes against people as racism, is because few times he has been abused as a taxi driver. I am told this is the case of Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Date. He took some Ausie passengers a very long way to their destinations and they refused to pay him and that created a suffle. Do the right my son and also make sure driving with proper licence and also do dot forget to pay your taxes.
Cowland HarryBy: Roger | 28-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward In your earlier musings you said you were NOT an Indian but an Indophile? Now you speak hindi. Looks like you landed in Australia from a real backyard i.e Laloo land, learnt a little bit of broken english and now dabbling with it. Do you have cows in your backyard by any chance?

ATTACK ON INDIANSBy: NIRANJAN | 27-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward WE, THE INDIANS, MOSTLY WANT TO DO OUR THING EVEN WHEN WE ARE AWAY FROM HOME. A SIKH IS THE MOST VULNERABLE BECAUSE OF HIS APPEARANCE. IT IS NOT NECESSARY THAT ALL THE WORLD MUST KNOW ABOUT SIKHISM AND THE REQUIREMENT OF HAIR, KIRPAN ETC. TO A PERSON HE LOOKS DIFFERENT, ALMOST LIKE A TALIBANI. IF I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT SIKHISM, I TOO WOULD BE SCARED OF A SIKH APPEARANCE. IT IS TIME THAT SIKHS LEARN ABOUT LOOKING DIFFERENT MEAN INVITING CRITICISM, COMMENTS AND EVEN ATTACKS!
australiaBy: jason | 28-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward NIRAJJAN,Thank you.Totally agree with you.We try to preach religion in a foreign country including setting up temples, mosques, guruduaras, churches. Most countries practice religious freedom and Australia in one of thoese countries. Our arrogant and obnoxious attitudes and behaviour by a few create problems for the rest.Been there, they are business people willing to help. Are we the Indians, hospitable,or polite?Respect to learn the law of the land. They are not in Chandini Chowk.Still trying to recollet the incident from Saudi Arabia, where they deported a Sikh gentleman since he established a "gurudara" and started the Bhajan. He was on the next plane back to Delhi? They can do that. They still do that.Indians in Saudi are treated almost like slaves at slave labor wages. So please dont balame others, accept the responsibility as a decent human being in the host country respecing their laws.

Indians have to learn manners of the host countyBy: Naim Naqvi | 26-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Let us accept the fact that we the Indians are unfit for most of the civilized societies of the world. Our recently acquired wealth doesn’t qualify us to sit with those against whom we are competing either with hook or by crook. We, as a tenants cheat the land lords; as a student play with the educational systems and laws of the host country. Our public behavior is usually obnoxious. We can't help at international level as we can witness our idiotic cleverness, our tricky habits and our ill manners in Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk and Colaba. Our richest segments of society are the most arrogant and uncivilized and kids reflect their upbringing when they visit the foreign shores. First teach some manners to your kids. Just being rich doesn't mean that no one would notice your monumental slips. A well behaved human being is welcome anywhere. A foxy clod would always be a cat on the hot bricks. Don't blame Australians alone. Blame your parenthood and haughty airs that you carried.
why do indians die for getting visa of christian western countries or muslim middle eastern countriesBy: Manoj Mishra | 26-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward well the fact of the matter is why are indians going to Australlia or any other parts of the world? why do indians beg or ready to do anything for getting visa of christian western countries or oil rich Muslim Middle eastern countries ?why do shamelessly crowd other's countries ?The reason is simple rotten political system ( law lessness ) which is given euphemism of so called democracy, worst kind of infrastructure , no roads ,water , healthcare, sanitation, electricty , house , clothes , food , very few university/colleges and schools that too with very very poor infrastructure and narrow thinking of society based on caste, community , religion and language.Still in 21st century indians indulge in large scale rioting , killing and burning each other , breaking places of worship( the the main political issue in india), and resort to violence to get votes ...shame.Do all inclusive Development of india with differences apart and mend fences with neighbours.
