More than 25 companies visited Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT) during the academic session 2008-09 for summer placements and final placements of MBA students.

Wing commander SS Arora ( Retd), training and placement officer, said, “It was disheartening to note that during the last quarter of 2008 and in the beginning of 2009, the companies were reluctant to come to the college for campus interview for the final placement of students due to impact of recession.”

“However from the beginning of April 09, companies dealing in insurance sector and other financial products started approaching the college. We have been recently approached by some companies like Reliance Communications and Reliance Money for placement of the students. A few unplaced students have also been sent for off-campus interviews at software companies, educational institutions, joint campus interviews and quite a few have been selected,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr (Col) HS Singha, stated, “The focus of the college is always on placement of students in reputed organisations. The requirements from FMCG, manufacturing units, pharma sector & IT field is slowly picking up. Although situation is gradually improving but salary package being offered to fresh MBA students has been comparatively less as compared to previous years,” he said, adding that even when the country was reeling under the impact of recession, as many as 28 companies visited the college for placement.
