BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani’s endorsement of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on “local support” to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks have not found support from two crucial NDA allies — the Shiv Sena and the BJD.

“A thorough investigation of 26/11 must be carried out. In addition, investigation should be carried out against local supporters of the perpetrators,” Advani said on Tuesday while speaking on the motion of thanks to the President’s address, where he lashed out at the UPA Government on a host of other issues.

Shiv Sena leader Anant Geete not only touched upon Advani’s “local support” theory, but also thanked the Centre for treating Mumbai attacks as an attack on the country and warned the Government about the dangers posed by terrorists who have not been accounted for.

Speaking on the motion of thanks in the Lok Sabha, Geete said the Mumbai Police Commissioner had said there were 16 terrorists involved and added that “the remaining six” still posed a danger to the country.

His speech, however, focused on the plight of cotton farmers in Vidarbha.

The BJD for its part criticised the Government for “white-washing” its anti-terror policy but maintained a distance from the “local support” theory of Advani.

“In a knee-jerk reaction, the Government changed the Home Minister after the Mumbai terror attacks and revived an old legislation to tackle terror-related cases,” BJD leader Tathagat Satpathy said in his speech without referring to Advani’s contention.

Samajwadi Party’s Mohan Singh urged the Government to categorically tell Pakistan that it would not hand over captured terrorist Kasab for prosecution and would hold his trial in India itself. A number of MPs cutting across party lines voiced their concern regarding the economic downturn in the country.

26/11: Allies stay off Advani's 'local support' theoryBy: Aftab shibli Fatmi | 27-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward Advaniji PM in waiting is behaving like a frustrated passenger in the waiting hall waiting for the train to come. While he used to be among top notch orators, he has slipped in rating and he often speaks and indulges in activities that does not suit his stature. He should allow Naqvi and Rudy to speak things that can not be substantiated.
Investigate like Malegaon caseBy: M Balachandran | 18-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward The UPA has given importance to Mumbai attack because some "WHITE" persons from WEST was also died. When they want to accuse someone for this, they put the blame fully on Pak. But why the intelligence input was not considered seriously. Why Defence / Coast Guard didnt act. Why instead of Defence Minister, they changed the Home Minister. Now the role of persons inside our country backing Pak Jihadis (like Afsal Guru) has to be investigated. It is undoubtfull somebody gave the terrorists some sort of support, otherwise attack in such a fashion is impossible. Let the UPA enquire all options like what they are doing in Malegaon blast case
advani is not wrong we prefer to close our earsBy: sarma | 18-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward politicians dont accept because a hindu person called advani said it, i am not talking about antulay nor digvijay etc. let us come to basics. people vote for their works to be done, for their selfish desires, and not for nation. so when people like advaniji and modi speaks about nation it makes every body embrassed. one thing is bitter true, uneducated morons vote to make a banana republic and UPA enjoys it a lot, the minority, the muslim has made all the politicians pants wet .
Terror and google earthBy: rammohan | 18-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward There is no meaning in blaming Modi or Advani. They are not controlling or geeting feed back from the CBI, or other security agencies. When a high ranking officer of Mumbai police had raised this issue only thing any one can infer is there is a chance. it is the duty fo the governemnt fo the day to prove by a proper investigation to claer the doubt, not only aam admi or opposition leaders, but the security agenecies themselves. An uneducated Qasab can come all the way to Chabad house by directions from google earth data is a joke.
Local By: Ajith krishna | 18-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward In an inquiry every aspect will be checked ,whether thats local or international suipport,There is no need for a seperate inquiry whether there is local support or not,As we know how much pakistani military and pakistani militants are ruining our main stream development, and the people who are taking about local support they want to divert the attention from the real thing. All over the world knows that pakistani militancy is a global threat, as we are supported by most of the world leaders we have to take this opportunity to show the militants accross the border that India is always right.
