'We need to do something to prevent terror attacks worldwide as these terrorists are moving across national boundaries.'

Days ahead of the first anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, experts from the US and UK are meeting in Mumbai to share their experiences on terrorism with central and state government officials at a security conference to be held at hotel Trident, a scene of the dastardly onslaught.

Mumbai-based NGO 'Bombay First' has organized the event - 'Security and Resilience Summit: Securing the City of Dreams' on November 13.

"We need to do something to prevent terror attacks worldwide as these terrorists are moving across national boundaries spreading terrorism. By bringing the international community together we can work towards fighting this scourge" said Chairman of Bombay First Narinder Nayar.

Top officials and experts from the US and UK will discuss and debate on the lessons learnt from the terror attacks on India and their own countries.

"We have invited experts from New York and London who were involved in dealing with the situation in the aftermath of the 9/11 and 7/7 attacks to share their perceptions and experiences with us. Also, our senior police and civil officials will present their views," Nayar said.

"We all need to gear up as there is the need for improved intelligence, better equipment and increased participation of the citizens in thwarting such outrageous attacks," he said.

Sir Paul Stephenson, Police Commissioner of London, Statutory Deputy Mayor of London Richard Barnes, Brett Lovegrove, a noted counter-terrorism expert, Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the US Department for Homeland Security and Sir David Veness, former Under Secretary General for Safety and Security of the United Nations are among the participants.
