Mumbai: "We didn't see the terrorists. But we felt their rage."

This is how American couple Bruce and Petty described their 26-hour-long harrowing experience in the confines of their room on the 17th floor of the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai which was under siege by terrorists.

The couple, along with a Chinese, a South African and an Australian national, was rescued from the hotel by the elite National Security Guards (NSG) late Thursday night.

"There was blood sprayed all over the floor. It was really messy. I didn't want to see it," said Bruce recounting their ordeal.

The couple, who were all praise for the NSG commandos, said that there was no water and the place was covered with debris.

"It's wonderful to be safe in life but it is sad to see what happened," Bruce said.

Despite their brush with terror, the couple is eager to "keep coming back" to India which is a "magical country."

Though they appeared calm, the couple was unwilling to recount their harrowing experience but profusely thanked the NSG commandos for moving them to safety.

"We were in our rooms when the commandos came to save our lives. It was amazing the manner in which they functioned ... very professional," a relieved Petty said.

"We were escorted out ... three commandos in front of us and two behind... we kept holding each others' hand and kept moving," she said holding Bruce by the hand.

"They assured we were safe. They looked around carefully. They had assault rifles and communications going on and they got us out," Bruce said.

Bombay Atack by terrorists by Dr. Abdul Azeez B K on 2008-11-28 19:35:59.234832+05:30
India! Please strike . Enemy is a known factor. Emulate Mr. Bush who sent patriots direct to the suspected nations. Whom are we waiting for. World is sure to understand us. If not now there will not be a chance to retaliate. Wish Indiraji was alive now.

How Can You Strike?

Dr. Azeez how can we strike? They are just waiting for us to do the same. They will have absolutely no qualms in dropping atom bombs on Mumbai and Delhi at the first opportunity. And they will say we did it in self defence as we cannot fight india in a conventional warfare. Then what? I understand you anger. Every indian is angry but we should not become over emotional and loose sense of judgement. We will overcome all of this when we get good set of politicians to govern our country.
We will have React by ASHISH SHRIVASTAVA on 2008-11-28 17:10:42.458587+05:30
It's time for reaction from India, world's growing power. We cannot always wait and watch. If we won't react now then after pakistan and bangladesh even srilanka and nepal can bother us. Can these countries even think of doing this with China? It's question of our nation's pride. Can't we teach them a lesson? What for is the security system? Is it only for the so called leaders who are good for nothing? Where is Maharashta Navnirman Sena and Raj Thakrey who were doing the same thing earlier in a less violent way? It's high time when we stop watching news and wait for some spice. It's time for all of us to react and show , to the people who are repeatedly disturbing the peace of this country - that they are making a big mistake. A common Indian who has respect for his nation understands this then why our Nation is sitting mum? We will have to react before it's too late.
