Banking services will be hit across the country tomorrow and the day after because of the nationwide strike by the Union Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
Public sector banks like State Bank of India (SBI) and its subsidiaries, Punjab National Bank (PNB), State Bank of Patiala, Canara Bank, Corporation Bank, etc will be having no operations because of the strike by employees.
Naresh Gaur, general secretary of the Ludhiana branch of the Punjab Bank Employees Federation, said that a rally would be held at Canara Bank near Bharat Nagar Chowk tomorrow morning.
The employees are protesting against the recommendations of the Khendelwal committee. They want the clerical cadre to be reduced and are also against the banking law amendment.
Because of the strike, business worth crores of rupees would be affected in the industrial city of Ludhiana.
