The Bengal unit of the BJP is awaiting direction from the central party command to launch an agitation on the 2G spectrum scam,in which former Union telecom minister D Raja has alleged involvement of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram. Shamik Bhattacharya,General Secretary,BJP,West Bengal, said the party has not yet got any direction from the central command over organising protests in the state. In the past,we have held a number of dharnas, protests and agitations on the 2G scam and are ready to do so again. We have held ourselvers back only because it is a national issue and it is for the party high command to decide what steps to take in this regard. One thing is clear, though. We hold the view that if there is any kind of involvement of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, then they should immediately resign. Sources in the state BJP said the party is going to raise the 2G scam issue in a big way in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament to browbeat the UPA government.
