Three men who allegedly barged into Muthoot finance firms East Delhi office on May 10 and looted cash and gold worth several lakh of rupees were arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police on Tuesday. The accused had allegedly conducted a recce of the Muthoot finance firm in Pandav Nagar,posing as customers and also deposited some gold there to see how the office functioned. The office did not have a CCTV camera or a security guard. After the robbery,the accused mortgaged some gold at Manappuram finance firm in Bhajanpura,police said. The accused had also held a woman customer and other officials present in the firm captive during the robbery. The arrested have been identified as Rahul (20),Satish (25) and Mahender (40). They were apprehended from New Kondli Bridge in New Ashok Nagar on a tip off. Four other members of the gang Satpal,Rohtash Chouhan,Raj Kishore and Pradeep Tiwari are absconding. Three members of the gang had on May 10 entered Muthoot Financiers in Pandav Nagar when there was a woman customer and four staff,including bank manager K C Kanujia,and looted the firm after taking them hostage, said Ashok Chand,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime). First,they conducted a recce of the area. On May 10,they met near Karawal Nagar Octroi checkpost and proceeded (towards the Muthoot office) on a car and a motorcycle. Mahender,Satpal and Kishore entered the premises while Rohtash kept a watch near the staircase. Tiwari remained in the car and Satpal waited on a motorcycle. Satpal was wearing a headgear. They decamped with gold ornaments in a bag. They took the laptop bag of bank manager Kanujia for carrying the gold. They also took away cash of Rs 1.5 lakh with them, Chand added. Kishore allegedly deposited around 70 grams of the looted gold at Manappuram General Finance and Leasing Ltd in Bhajanpura.
