  • CID officials, who have been camping in Kandhamal for more than a month, said they have identified the group that murdered Saraswati. “The group that killed the Swami comprised around 35 people, although the conspiracy was hatched much before by around 100 people in the district. We have identified the Maoists as well as others who are overground. We will arrest some of them very soon,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, the state president of the Hindu Jagaran Samukhya, Ashok Sahu, on Monday lambasted the state Government’s “inaction” in the Saraswati murder. He reiterated his earlier allegations that local church authorities had engineered the attack by hiring Christian Maoists. Sahu alleged that on May 25 this year, 17 people met in a church under G Udaygiri police station where they resolved to kill Saraswati.

ConversionsBy: Ramani | 07-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward Christians are definitely interested in converting every one to their religion. This is evident from the way they talk about their religion and growth of churches . Foriegn money is pouring and it is used for personal gain and for conversion. This has become a business. Churches are coming up even in remote places in the name of service and simple people in villages are exploited for their faith in god and of course the unfortunate untaouchabilty in the Hindu culture. They are also borrowing Hindu pratices in their culture to create a comfort feeling. As long as the government is not clear about what is secularism and remove diffeential treatments in the name of religion / group etc I am afraid we are goin to face more such problem and India will disintegrate. Do we have the same right through out india regardless of what group one belongs to. For example Kashmir and Tamil Nadu Temple administration by Govt.

What do the" secularists" have to say now?By: Puneet | 07-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward Please send this article for information to Shashi Tharoor, who continues to write anti-Hindu (of course he is a prolific writer and masks his articles in the garb of secularism) in the Times of India... Hope some better sense will prevail on him...
Model minority?By: Indian | 07-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward But as far as I remember, the Maoists believe that 'religion' is the opium of the people. How then could the arrested Maoists justify the murder of the Hindu leader,Saraswati citing he was 'anti-Christian'? And if the Christians in Orissa are angels as they are made out to be ,their proselytising actiivities can also be labelled anti Hindu! Now can we justify the attacks on the Christians by calling them anti Hindu? But of course in our nation bereft of any principles, anti Hindu means secular and pro Hindu means communal. In this scenario the majority naturally took the law into their hands for quick and instant justice, knowing the courts and laws of the land usually side with the wrongdoers. Both communities are to blame in the riots in Orissa. If the Christians are so 'secular' minded why are the Buddhist Reangs driven out from their original homes in Mizoram,Nagaland and Manipur the so called Christian majority states in 'secular' India?
