After the thumping success of 3 Idiots, all is well has become Aamir Khans common refrain. So,no matter if there is a controversy over credit-grabbing for the original story,or a suicide and a ragging in Mumbai allegedly inspired by the film, the actor feels there is no ground to question the films content and making.
Controversies can always be created from anything. It depends on which way you look at something. The film has a positive message and should be made tax free and shown in every small town and village, he said in a thanksgiving press conference in Nagpur on Tuesday.
The film is actually about anti-ragging. Its about problems in our education system. It tells that we shouldnt stress our kids for the career that we (parents) want them to pursue. We are getting very positive reactions on the film from everywhere. Kids are telling us that after seeing this film their parents will understand them better. So,its having the desired impact, Khan said when asked about reports of the film inspiring suicide and ragging by students.
The audience understands things properly, he said.
Director Rajkumar Hirani replied in the negative when asked if he had been contacted by the government on the issue of the films portrayal of ragging.
When actor Madhavan was asked if he too had become an engineer against choice, the actor said,Yes. Actually, when I was told the films theme,I told Raju that he had brought me a leaf out of my own life.
But has Bomman Iranis ViruS teacher character maligned the institution of teaching? In fact,I have myself encountered a few persons like him. Such people do exist all around us, said Irani.
Aamir, when pointed out that his Taare Zameen Par actually had a teacher who understood his students well, agreed, yes, there are both kinds of teachers, good and bad.
When Hirani was asked if,unlike his earlier films, the message got subdued in his latest film due to the overpowering play of pranks by the three characters,he replied,Every film has its spirit. Here,we were making a film involving college students, not Mahatma Gandhi. So,we had to show all that goes with college life.
BJP wants U/A certificate for 3 Idiots
The BJP has demanded that 3 Idiots be referred back to the censor board and given a U/A certificate for restricted viewing. In a statement on Tuesday,BJP state spokesperson Madhav Bhandari demanded that the film be stripped of U certificate and referred back to the censor board for a review and given a U/A certificate. He said if a film motivates students to commit suicide or indulge in ragging, the government should step in.
