Three Indian projects — KG-D6,Mundra power project and Indira Gandhi International Airport,Delhi — have featured in the infrastructure 100 global project report of global consultancy firm KPMG. The report showcases 100 examples of great projects that are at different stages of development across the world,according to the firm.

“KG-D6 project not only sets new standards in integrated gas infrastructure projects but it also launches an innovated approach to the sale and transportation of energy,helping to accelerate India’s economic growth,” KPMG said The 4,000 MW Mundra plant,one of the nine ultra mega power projects,uses unfashionable coal,making it the most energy efficient plants vital to India’s continuing economic development,it said.

“The IGI Airport Expansion at New Delhi was upgraded and modernised while still functioning,delivering a world-class facility,which is also being turned around in record time,” KPMG said. Of those 100 projects — all shortlisted for their scale,complexity,innovation and impact on society — 10 have been highlighted by the independent judging panels as notable projects in different infrastructure sectors. They include — Venice MOSE Flood Barrier (Italy),Green Power Express (USA),Mthombo Oil Refinery (South Africa),Incheon Tidal Power Project (South Korea),TAV high speed rail link (Brazil),CRCHUM P3 research centre (Canada),King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (Saudi Arabia),Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge,Panama Canal extension and Greater Manchester Waste in UK.
