Son tied up in same room, man killed
In a brutal attack that unfolded in front of a 10-year-old, a property dealer was strangulated, stabbed and clubbed to death by four unidentified assailants at his Khanpur home in Neb Sarai, South Delhi.
Dalbir Singh Yadav’s son Yash was the sole witness to the murder. The criminals struck around 9 am on Friday morning. Though the house was found ransacked, the entry appeared to be friendly, officers said.
Police suspect the deceased’s estranged wife, Reena, to be behind the attack.
Singh’s relatives told Newsline that his eldest daughter, Deeksha was away at Maitreyi College and second daughter Ashu was in DPS Vasant Kunj. Only Yash was home.
“Yash told us four men knocked the door and came in. One gagged the boy and tied his hands. The others repeatedly stabbed Dalbir, who had five to six stab injuries on his stomach and hand. He was also strangulated and clubbed with a heavy object,” a senior police official said.
After the attack, the assailants left with the child still tied up. The boy’s uncle, Karambeer Yadav, who stays next door, told Newsline, “Yash somehow managed to come to the balcony and raised an alarm. I rushed in to find Dalbir in a pool of blood.” Yadav called the police, who took Dalbir to AIIMS, where he was declared dead on arrival.
A case has been registered in Neb Sarai police station.Police said 12 days ago, Reena and Dalbir had a fight and Dalbir allegedly hit her with a heavy object. Reena received five stitches and registered an FIR against Dalbir. Since then, she has been staying separately.
