Five days ago, when her geography teacher asked her to see him at home, the 16-year-old schoolgirl happily agreed because she needed help ahead of an examination. But when she got there, she found him with two other teachers from her school. The trio allegedly took turns to rape her after threatening to fail her in the examination.
This incident at Hadha in Unnao, which has sent shockwaves across the district after it came to light yesterday, involved three teachers of the Adarsh Inter College.
Unnao Superintendent of Police, P K Mishra, said a case has been registered and two of the teachers have been arrested while the third is on the run.
Parshuram Tripathi, Station House Officer of Achalganj police station, said a medical examination of the girl at the district hospital confirmed rape.
According to the police, geography teacher Umesh Chandra approached the girl, a student of Class XII, on January 12.
The victim’s father told The Indian Express: “He (Chandra) asked her to go to his home where she found Social Sciences teacher Vinay Verma and English teacher Rambabu Kushwaha also present.” After allegedly raping her, they threatened the girl with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident.
When the girl failed to reach home on time, her family began a search and found her weeping inconsolably near the Achalganj police station. “Though we came to know about the incident the same day, we were in a dilemma whether to report the matter to the police,” her father said.
