Terror attacks in Mumbai echoed in Canadian Parliament

Describing the terror attacks in Mumbai as ‘despicable acts of violence’, Canada has said that it stands united with India against all forms of terrorism.

Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Lawrence Cannon spoke with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and expressed Toronto's condolences for those killed and injured in these ‘cowardly’ attacks.

"On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured," he said.

Supporting India in its fight against terrorism, he said: "Canada stands firmly united with the Government of India in condemning these despicable acts of violence. Canada and India share a commitment to freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law. Among our mutual priorities is close cooperation to promote international security and to fight terrorism."

"We will continue to monitor events as they develop," he added.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary to the minister of Foreign Affairs, Deepak Obhrai, condemned Mumbai terror attacks in the House of Commons.

"The ties that bind Canada and India are strong and these attacks have only strengthened our resolve to continue working together for the mutual security and prosperity of our peoples," he said.

"We continue to work closely with Indian authorities to assist any Canadians who may be directly affected by these attacks," he said in a statement.

"On behalf of Government and people of Canada I stand today to condemn, in the strongest terms, the deplorable terrorist attacks in Mumbai. The use of violence and terror against innocent civilians is appalling and must not be tolerated," Obhrai said.

I sincerely think that they have done what they have thought of and lastly surrendered and its great Indian mind(like PrithviRaj Chaouhan) will leave them to make more disasters. Its Great INDIA

Hinduist/Islamist- its the people. By: Indian Islam | 28-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward All the brave hearts over there. Biggest mistake Firstly Gujrat and then all the other things which followed. Even biggest tragedy is what happened in Mumbai. Dont forget as I pay my condolence and tribute to Mr Karkare, he is the one who identified it was Hindu Extremist who were behind the Maleagoan blast. How about now calling them Hindu Terrorist. It happens every where and terrorism has no boundries or religion. As one fellow said on this list Islamic FUNDAMENTALIST. I wish they were because then this would not happen as they would have know exaclty what ISLAMs teachings are then. Peace. Stop blaming the religion and start resolving the root cause. Start with MODI and Gujrat. If any one need to be punished publicly then its him. Peace out.
