Andhra MPs have emerged together as the richest bloc in Lok Sabha with a wealth of over Rs 600 crore.

Andhra Pradesh may not account for even 10 per cent of total Lok Sabha seats, but the 42 MPs from the state have together emerged as the richest bloc in the lower house of Parliament with a wealth of over Rs 600 crore.

However, in terms of average wealth, Haryana is on the top with the 10 MPs from the state owning assets worth an average over Rs 18 crore.

Nearly 15 per cent of the people in both Andhra Pradesh and Haryana are estimated to be living in abject poverty.

In terms of combined assets of Lok Sabha representatives, AP is on the top with assets worth Rs 606 crore, followed by Maharashtra (close to Rs 500 crore), Tamil Nadu (about Rs 450 crore), Uttar Pradesh (about Rs 400 crore) and Haryana (Rs 181 crore) in the top five.

Karnataka and Punjab are the only two other states where MPs' combined assets top Rs 100 crore - about Rs 160 crore in the southern state and Rs 150 crore in the agriculture- dominated northern state.

Besides, the total asset size of MPs exceed Rs 10 crore in 15 other states - including Rajasthan, MP, Bihar, Orissa, Delhi, Gujarat, Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, J&K and Arunachal Pradesh.

Only MPs from five states or union territories - Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur and Andaman & Nicobar Islands - have assets worth less than Rs one crore.

The 543 MPs elected to the new Lok Sabha together have assets worth more than Rs 3,000 crore, while 300 of them can be called 'crorepatis' as they own assets worth at least Rs one crore. The average asset size of an MP in the entire Lok Sabha works out to be more than Rs five crore.

    ... contd.

Crorepatis in our Lokh SabhaBy: Padam Singh | 19-May-2009 Reply | Forward For almost two weeks the Daily Telegraph has done the peoples of the UK an immense favour - after four years of painstaking investigation they have revealed the corruptness of many Brtish politicians. Of course they would only be kids compared to our politicians who have become so adept at sleaze andcorruption . Remember each MP get 5 crores in his term for constituency development. Is it difficult to become a crorepati? But the biggest question is - DO WE HAVE ANY JOURNALISTS OF SIMILAR STATURE AND GUTS COMPARED WITH THE DAILY TELEGRAPH?.Methinks it would be a good idea to hire some investigative journalists from the UK to expose how our MPs, for a start became crorepatis. Mayawati could maybe tell us her story. Then don't forget we have crorepati MLAs, bureaucrats and civil servants too
crorepahis in PoliticsBy: Vednarayan | 19-May-2009 Reply | Forward Wonder how single leaders runs political party in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere. Wherefrom the money flows? Results show in many states, only one seat is won by the so called All India Status political parties. One of the parties in Tamil Nadu surprisingly is an alley to the Congress along with DMK. Bears a name Viduthalai Chirutai....affliated to LTTE. With LTTE banned and declared militants in Sri Lanka, how Congress is going to deal with such leaders and parties. Definitely this one party leader will become a Minister, recommended by Karunanidhi and is it not dangerous to the Nation, to have such militants in the ruling group. Will it not expose Government secrets to the terroorist groups in foriegn countries? After the news of Prabhakaran's death, this party has organised agitation and indulged in violence in certain cities damaging public property. Who is at loss, is it not our property damaged. With such people coming to govern, who are going to gain? General Public ?

if you dont know about disease how can you cure it?By: askar | 19-May-2009 Reply | Forward people say that Indian politicians are corrupt, not true actually average Indian are most corrupt people. They vote only to a politician who can give them some profit by any hook or crook means or any illegal means, so they vote to most corrupt person who is close to him, so that their wishes can be fulfilled by any means.second myth Indian youth are good and honest?actually Indian middle class educated youth are more corrupt than their older generation, if you speak only 10 min to any so called educated youth, you can know that how they are desperate to become rich overnight by any means legal or illegal, most of them have criminal mind always ready to do anything if they can
