The zonal anti-corruption bureau (ACB) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has forwarded a list of 33 officers in the ranks of sub inspector and inspector for deputation in CBI units across the state to Director General of Police SS Virk.
The agency has zeroed in on these officers from the applications it received and they are expected to be posted across CBI units in Nagpur, Goa, Pune and Mumbai once the internal vigilance team completes a background check.
“There are many posts lying vacant and we are looking for more officers in these ranks to join us,” said ACB (western zone) joint director Rishi Raj Singh.
The postings will ensure a 25 per cent hike in their salary, housing in the area of their posting and an additional allowance.
“Unlike regular postings, these posts will allow officers at a sub inspector level to do investigation on par with the inspectors of the routine policing level,” Singh said. “We also ensure that the officers are posted in regions of their choice as only if they are comfortable in their regions can they be better placed for collecting intelligence.”
The anti-corruption unit has, in the past year, seen an increase in number of corruption cases, with the agency going in for more trap cases.
“From an average 15-20 trap cases a year, we have attended nearly 35 trap cases — in which central agency officials were caught taking graft — in the past six months, Singh said.
