During the three days that the Red Ribbon Express was stationed in Chandigarh, 34,621 people visited the special train at the Chandigarh Railway Station.
The aim of the third phase of the Red Ribbon Express campaign was to create HIV/AIDS awareness. People from all walks of life thronged the railway station. Dr Vanita Gupta, project director, Chandigarh SACS, said on the last day of the Red Ribbon Express campaign on Friday, 11,464 visitors including students, NSS volunteers, safai karamcharies, anganwari workers and government employees visited the train, and attended the training sessions in the train. Some people were even tested for HIV and some were offered on-the-spot counselling.
