Common Sense
by Dinesh on 2008-11-21 21:23:16.258685+05:30
That 's right. Umpire must use common sense in games played by one of the white teams. And the common sense is" help white team win the matches like they did in sydney, Aust. Common sense also means impose 8 times more fine on players of subcontinent for similar infringement. Example Zaheer's (80%)fine versus Watson's (10%). In the interest of the game those upmires not having such a common sense must be removed. You can not let a white team lose like that. Come on use your common sense. So follow your common sense in next game if you want to be an umpire otherwise English media and ICC will ban you.
British media have no right to umpire Cricket
by Puthenthope on 2008-11-21 21:05:21.932621+05:30
Hi Brits, Shut your mouth and focus on next 4 games if you want to win. This is a new breed of Indians. Can you win at least one game to save your ego?In Cricket there are umpires to do their job. The media who criticized the umpires should be ashamed because they are strictly following the regulations and no question about it.
India's win at Kanpur
by N.RAJ VIGNESH on 2008-11-21 19:13:41.185845+05:30
Even if the match was played, I am sure India would have definitely made it. England should not try to make these sort of remarks on the Umpires or the Duckworth Lewis method of declaring the results. I do agree that Duckworth Lewis method is bit harsh, but is always to the disadvantage of the team batting second. In the instant case, India has made it well ahead and were in a very convenient position. Even if the match was continued, imagine for a while that there was no bad light, the match would have gone in favour of India with minimum 2 to 3 overs to spare. I wish English team to concentrate in their future matches instead of brooding over whatever that has happened. This sort of attitude can be expected only from Aussies and not from English.
Umpire robbed Engla...
by Dharam Pal on 2008-11-21 18:57:55.870471+05:30
England could have won if the life had not faded. India!s chances were higher. Till the play ended India had the upper hand. The conjectures by the England Captain and their media are only speculative. Umpires have been unnecessarily put on trial. Captains should learn to be graceful in defeat as much as they enjoy victory.

Had it been England winning as per DL rule everything under the sky would have been transparent. We are capable of winning the series without that win as well

by Dharam Pal on 2008-11-21 18:51:27.387891+05:30
England could have won if the light had not faded India had equal if not higher chances of scoring the runs and win. Everything else is speculative and it is not fair to put the umpires on trial. Captains should learn to be graceful in defeat and victory.
3rd ODI - Kanpur- Captaincy at its Best
by HL Kumar on 2008-11-21 17:54:15.826232+05:30
The English Captain should be heard, or at least overheard, the Indian Captain opining after losing the toss, that the D/L method will come into play during early evening and that he would have opted to bowl even if he had won the toss. That is brilliant assessment and calculated usage of resources and the latest blessing-in-disguise called the "Batting Team Power Play". Better than lamenting on the loss contributed to first by the England batsmen scoring at least 40-50 runs lesser, their bowlers could not capitalise on the earlier lapses by the Indian batsmen. At the end of the day, the captain who is able to better utilize his resources had the last laugh.......
Double Standards of the White
by Indian on 2008-11-21 16:00:33.473974+05:30
I general this is typical of Brits/Aussies/Americans/white who claim high moral ground as long as they have the upper hand. When you look back in history, these guys have committed the worst crimes possible for centuries and now they are model citizens to the world.

dont worry india can win another two matches and the result will be the same. however let us accept the fact that after 45 minutes delay how the umpires decided to reduce only two overs because in 45 minutes the stipulated overs bowled should be 10 as rightly pointed out. if there were only 1 or two wickets left he can say england had the chance to win. when there were 5 wickets left and pathan playing his shots the match could have been finished in 45 overs.
After Austalians British are metnally disintegrating.

Seems that now its the British who are mentally disintegrating after Ponting and symonds and Australians have. Very entertaining to watch.

If there was no light problem, then also it was difficult for England team to win. The rules were not made in suport of Indian team. After loosing the match, it is not fair to critisise the umpires and the rules.
Kanpur cricket match-India
by Ajjampur Ramadas on 2008-11-21 14:04:17.480905+05:30
Sir, one thing that I do not understand that all these senior and experienced empires knew the light conditions in Kanpur and why they did not decide the match to be conducted in limited overs say 20:20 or 30:30, thus making this match a decisive one in a decent way rather than to follow D/L method, which is being questioned one. This could have been much better than to receive criticism being now hurled at them.
English win??? How???????????
by astrix91 on 2008-11-23 12:31:56.738718+05:30
The reason that you do not understand is that you do not have that basic knowledge of the game. There is no body other than the losers questioning the decisions and yes some morons like you too. Why are you s defensive to the vitiated criticism hurled by the sore losers. They are so sure of their victory as will Indian Players would have paralysed after 40 overs of play. I am quite sure, India was better placed when the match ended due to bad light.

Earlier Aussie media and now the British media are bahaving like bad loosers. Come on Englishmen, there was 5 wickets left with 5 run/over requirement and Dhoni (No. 1 ODI player) and Pathan ( who rogered England in the last match, 29 ball 50).

THIRD ODI AT KANPUR
by NANDA on 2008-11-21 13:05:55.239935+05:30
Mr Kevin Pietersen the captain of the England team should have been aware of the rules of the game . England won the toss and were at one stage 79 for no loss the english players were not able to increase the run rate after they lost the first wicket . The Indian team even though they lost two quick wickets were always scoring in a better run rate throught the match except for a few overs . The better team won there is no pont in the British Media and Mr Pietersen grumbling after loosing the match. Even if the game had continued India would have won as they had the wickets and overs to win the match.
Poor England team
by Alankar on 2008-11-21 12:34:56.067023+05:30
Only way England would have won this match was by D/L method...unfortunately it went against them...now they have somebody else to blame for their loss than themselves
England robbed of Victory, or robbed of an absolute loss
by s on 2008-11-21 12:27:53.530544+05:30
Well - everyone knew the rules, and Pietersen chose to bat first. He should have judged that with 1 over deducted, the 2nd team may well play only 40 overs. So it was a strategic mistake.also, 43 runs with 5 wickets in 9 overs is not that tall a task that the English players and media assumed that England would surely win from there

by P K Subraya Holla on 2008-11-21 12:17:11.396864+05:30
Had there been enough light and if match had lasted for the full 50 overs would England have won the match? There were 60 balls and only 43 runs to score. How can English media think that it was their chance to win. If match had continued in another fiver overs Dhoni and Pathan could have finished the match

by Indi on 2008-11-21 12:13:22.572252+05:30
It seems every one is obsessed against India winning? Aussies are so rattled so much so that they have lost there mental balance and dont know what to talk and what not to. Now it is the turn of british media to cry fowl. Wonder what the british media would have said had england won by duckworth lewis system

When you are captaining a side Mr Kevin Pietersen you should be well aware of the rules of the game no use in cribling your team were at one stage 79 for no loss with a very good run rate it is the mistake of your batsman that they could not capitalise on the good start and the team was bowled out in less than the stipulated 49 overs .It is the entire team that has to be blamed . You should recollect that India was well in control of the run rate throught the match except for a very few overs after which they were ahead of the run rate most of the time . your team failed in the first place to capitalise on winning the toss there is no use in finding fault with the umpires
